It will be a beautiful day today with plenty of sun and temperatures warming well into the low to mid 70's. Later this evening chances for rain and storms will exist as a cold front moves from the northwest to southeast across the region, primarily north of the I-94 corridor. This cold front, and the attendant convection, will take advantage of the weakly unstable environment and cooler upper-level temperatures and become more organized and perhaps strong to marginally severe.
Any storms that do become strong to marginally severe will primarily pose a threat for small to large hail up to 1 inch in diameter. Storms may also briefly produce some gusty outflow winds of 40 to 60 MPH but this will be a lesser threat. An even more negligible threat will be the risk of tornadoes, which is highlighted at less than 2% by the SPC.
This threat appears to be very limited, highly conditional and will be very isolated in nature. However, we'll of course be watching trends closely and will provide updates as needed.
