Spring weather pattern continues to close out the week here in West Michigan with variable weather conditions expected.

The primary focus for the short term is that area National Weather Service Forecast Offices have placed much of western and southwestern lower Michigan under Freeze Warnings or Freeze Watches for this evening.
Widespread low temperatures in the 20's, calm winds, and lack of cloud cover will result in frost and freeze conditions across the area which will be harmful to crops and sensitive vegetation and perhaps damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Farmers and those with sensitive vegetation and/or outdoor plumbing should take steps to prevent damage from the cold temperatures.
Thursday will be another sunny day with highs near 60. Low temperatures will encroach on Frost Advisory/Freeze Warning conditions again on Thursday night but current guidance on winds and cloud cover lead to lower confidence in potential headlines from local weather services offices at this time. It will be chilly regardless, with lows in the low 30's.
Finally, as we move into the weekend we'll see much warmer temperatures move into the region. These warm temperatures look to remain in place for the foreseeable future and this is likely the start of our "late-spring/early-summer" weather pattern here in Michigan.
High temperatures will remain in the upper 60's to low 70's and overnight lows will hover right around 50 degrees leading to pleasant and warm conditions for a majority of the time.
One caveat to this somewhat unseasonably early warm weather is the attendant risk for rain showers, thunderstorms, and yes, severe weather potential. West Michigan Weather Forecasters and NWS SPC Meteorologists are currently tracking several days of thunderstorms and severe weather potential for western lower Michigan.

While western lower Michigan is not currently outlined in a severe weather risk from the SPC, the severe weather threat has continued to shift/expand northeastward to at least some degree over the last several days. If this trend were to continue, west Michigan could see some severe weather risk for both Saturday and Sunday. We'll continue to watch these potential threats and will provide updates as necessary.
