9:00 AM Update: Severe Weather Potential This Afternoon

Severe Weather Potential

9:00 AM EDT Update

The 9 AM SPC Outlook expands the slight risk north, east, and west to encompass almost all of our coverage area with the exception of far southwestern Berrien County and portions of north/northwest of Big Rapids. All of those areas remain in a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe weather.

No major changes in our previous forecast.

We are expecting a line of thunderstorms, perhaps with embedded supercells to move through the region later this afternoon.

Some of these storms could be strong to severe and produce damaging wind gusts of 60 MPH and perhaps a brief, weak tornado or two.
