School Closings & Delays For Friday 01/09/2026

This is just getting awkward at this point. We apologize! Despite the 40°F-60°F temperatures during the majority of the last 72 hours, widespread rain showers, and the fact that the original winter weather event from Tuesday was not overly significant by any means, we still had a couple of isolated school closings this morning (Friday).

Secondary road conditions are the hardest thing we forecast for and often result in a "Predictability Too Low" forecast, meaning we don't even issue a graphic, because we can't reliably or realistically denote where schools may be impacted by poor secondary road conditions. After a more major winter weather event, with 10+ inches of snow, 0.50 inches of ice, etc... we can certainly do so more reliably, but in the case of this week, we could not do so, especially given we are currently down 2 forecasters due to illness and personal reasons.

Again, we apologize for the lack of outlooks and then seeing school closings and delays for much of the latter half of this week, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
