West Michigan Weather forecasters have been monitoring the potential for strong to severe storms on Thursday, June 13 for the past few days but have held off on mentioning it in our forecasts because of uncertainty amongst the various computer weather models.
Computer weather models have now come into better agreement and the Storm Prediction Center has now placed much of lower Michigan, along and south of the US-10 corridor, under a broad 15-30% Risk of Severe Weather (yellow-shaded area).
While details surrounding storm mode, timing, and storm intensity all remain a bit unclear, as is common for potential events that are still a few days out, there is enough of a signal at this point to make all of you aware of this potential threat.
As it stands, this blog post is simply made in an effort to increase awareness. The bottom line is that there is a risk for severe weather across much of lower Michigan on Thursday. We'll continue to track this severe weather potential and will provide updates as necessary!
